About
The BAM Family
I started blogging when I first moved to China in 2013. It was a way to keep my family and friends back home up-to-date on my experiences. That blog captured the experiences of my falling in-love with my now husband. My next blog came from a much more painful time in my life. I had just had a miscarriage after trying so hard to conceive. I was devastated after the loss and uncertain I'd ever be able to have children. Fortunately, that blog ultimately captured my and my spouse's journey into parenthood.

With the addition of our daughter Alaya, we became the BAM (Bochuan, Alaya, and Maxi) family. Now, we've made another unexpected move. We've decided to raise our daughter in Finland, a country foreign to both my husband and I. We have no idea what we'll encounter raising a biracial, multilingual child in Finland, but we hope you'll join us in the ups and downs (and we don't just mean in temperature). If so, please subscribe!
